Biocultural Collections

The Index Ethnobotanices is modeled after the New York Botanical Garden's 'Index Herbariorum', https://sweetgum.nybg.org/science/ih/, --- a worldwide index of 3,100 herbaria and 12,000 associated staff where a total of 390 million botanical specimens are permanently housed. A valuable resource for the field, we aim to curate a similar index listing institutions which have or are connected to biocultural collections. Entries to the Index Ethnobotanices were generated from public access web sources, and from various workshops and meetings held between 2000-2023. We recognize this list is incomplete, please reach out for edits.
